Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a professional pianist based in southwest Ohio, and I believe that everyone is inherently musical, and that with the right education, everyone can express, understand, and enjoy their own musicality. An active performer and educator, my wife and I operate our own music studio in her hometown where we teach students from birth (yes, really!) to adult. Additionally, I'm a church organist and the host of a weekly classical music radio program. Through Outschool I teach individual and group piano classes for students of all ages, as well as music theory and history.
I received my Master of Music degree in piano performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and my Bachelor of the Arts degree in music from Allegheny College, where I graduated magna cum laude. I am the recipient of the Edith Mead Osbourne Memorial Prize for distinguished pianism, the Frederick Marantz Memorial Prize in recognition of marked talent with the piano, and the Mary Elizabeth King Brown Teaching Excellence Award.
