Class Experience

During this class, learners will perform individual songs they have prepared through practice and teacher feedback. This class will function as a virtual recital. Each learner may play 1-2 songs which they have chosen with the assistance and approval of the teacher. Learners should schedule Recital Prep sessions with the teacher to select songs and receive feedback for their performance. Or, it may be possible to select songs during your current piano class depending on the enrollment.

The class will begin with introductions. Then, learners will perform in a predetermined order. Performances will include learners of all ages and levels. Learners are encouraged to listen respectfully to each performance, showing appropriate audience behavior throughout.

Texas Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
Hello! My name is Mrs. McArthur and I teach MUSIC! I am a Texas certified all-level music teacher with 29 years of teaching experience, 26 years in public schools and 3 years online and homeschool experience. I have taught preschool through eighth grade General Music and Choir classes. I received a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education with an emphasis in vocal music from Oklahoma Baptist University.

I believe that every learner can make music! Learners need a variety of experiences to learn music skills, including visual, aural and kinesthetic. Given sequential steps, students can achieve well beyond the expectations. When creativity is modeled, learners discover that making mistakes improves music. Learners need opportunities to be creative with choices so they can create on their own terms and interests. By making connections to science, social studies, math and beyond, students learn that subjects don’t exist in isolation. Music is the universal language and learners deserve a chance to explore the world through a musical lens!
