30 mins in-class hours per weekHomework
Each child will have weekly homework from music theory to weekly lessons to practice. The goal is 10-20 minutes a day depending on the age and placement in books and styles.Class Experience
Utilizing many styles of teaching to bring music to life. The goal is to create an uplifting environment so each child can learn and grow in music in their own unique way and time. My goal is to allow them to take as much or as little time as they need on each idea or new method as we learn, over time I find any child can learn to read music. I have taught from several different book series, helping families pick up where they left off. (Teaching with new families overseas, I tried to keep each child in the books they were comfortable working with). From Piano Adventures, Alfred’s, John Thompson, and even the UK ABRSM books for exams. I’ve had experience teaching all, levels 1-5 in most cases. THIS CLASS however: is for new beginners to level 1-2. And can teach all books from each series, theory, note spelling, technique, scales, lesson, and performance books. As well as an extra fun song of students choice here or there, from popular music to jazz or what speaks to them. And depending on the time of year and their preferences other music that may go along with that time of year. Very much up to each family and child depending on the lesson they are looking for. Please note: depending on age and maturity of child a parent may need to be available at least for a few lessons to help guide as the child learns the beginning ropes. Within a few lessons it’s pretty self led with a little guidance here and there. At the end of each live lesson I do send videos for brand new students. These videos are to be used during practice to play along with. They are set up as if in the actual lesson. So every time they practice it’s as if they are practicing with me guiding them. My experience teaching overseas and online has given a different perspective in music. I can not wait to share with you and your child my knowledge. Please note: I have worked with ADHD or very active children and autistic children in music in the past and greatly enjoyed it; please do not count them out, music should be for everyone. Please note: Information on previous lessons is key for placement. I can not place your child correctly without this information. They will be placed at a beginning level till appropriate information is given or passed on. Thank you for your understanding in this.
