Advanced Level
🎉 This advanced small group piano class is for learners who are interested in playing the piano with both hands at the same time and reading music. Pre-requisite for enrolling in this Level J class is Piano Music Class Level I proficiency or a message to Mrs. Pauli describing previous experience, please. Benefits of a group class over private lessons are: ⏲️ More affordable class for a longer session, 🙃 Hearing other learners around the same level making mistakes too, 🥳 Witnessing the benefits of practice done by others in their improvement, 👏 Having an audience in the next class that is not just your teacher (peers) as a reason to practice between classes. 🎹 Learners need to have a piano or keyboard during class to play along with Mrs. Pauli. 💻 Learners will need to be able to see their screen to view the music while playing on their instrument. No book purchases will be necessary in this class. All music has been arranged by Mrs. Pauli and will be provided and printable after class. A 3-ring binder with plastic page protectors is a great way to keep songs organized. 🎼This class is a fun piano class for students who have been playing piano or keyboard in lessons or classes for 30+ months. 🎶We have a wonderful opportunity to have that "It's Music Day" feeling! 🎶 Every week, learners will recieve instruciton on a key concept in reading and understanding music as well as a new song lines to practice. Songs will be able to be practiced one hand at a time and have a more challenging two hand song options without letter hints. 🗓️ The Piano Music Class series, PMC Level A (Primer) through PMC Level J, runs by seasonal term. Piano Music Class Series Levels A - F are 10 week classes each over 1 term. Piano Music Class Series Levels G - J are 20 week classes each over 2 terms. 📈 Learners can progress through the Piano Music Class Series with Mrs. Pauli for over 3 years of consistent piano class material. At the end of the Series, learners should have the ability to read all sheet music, play beautiful pieces on piano, and 🔥have experienced the benefits of regular effort and practice in a skill🔥. 🔠 If your student is an absolute beginner, I recommend one of the Introductory courses instead: Piano Music Class Primer or Piano Music Class Level A 🎹Practicing between classes is highly recommended and would be necessary for continuous progression through levels of the Piano Music Class series as the material increases in difficulty for each level. ✅Please schedule your practice times as part of your commitment to piano classes in order to progress through the music at an enjoyable rate. Studies have shown that piano students who practice between lessons pursue music longer and have a better experience in lessons. Outschool's no-show policy is that class is closed after 10 minutes if no learners have logged on. https://support.outschool.com/en/articles/16379-outschool-s-happiness-guarantee-and-refunds **** Start of Spring Term 2024 **** March 25 - March 31: S1) The Swan by Camille Saint-Saens (18 measures of new music) April 1 - April 7: S2) The Swan by Camille Saint-Saens (18 measures of new music) April 8 - April 14: S3) The Swan by Camille Saint-Saens (19 measures of new music) April 15 - April 21: P1) Prelude Op 28 No 4 Chopin (12 measures of new music) April 22 - April 28: P2) Prelude Op 28 No 4 Chopin (13 measures of new music) April 29 - May 5: B1) Bagatelle Op 119 No 1 Beethoven (16 measures of new music) May 6 - May 12: B2) Bagatelle Op 119 No 1 Beethoven (8 measures of new music) May 13 - May 19: B3) Bagatelle Op 119 No 1 Beethoven (8 measures of new music) May 20 - May 26: B4) Bagatelle Op 119 No 1 Beethoven (22 measures of new music) May 27 - June 2: ***MEMORIAL DAY*** No Class June 3 - June 9 B5) Bagatelle Op 119 No 1 Beethoven (16 measures of new music) Performances **** End of Spring Term **** No lesson scheduled for 2 weeks, so no fees are charged to stay enrolled **** Start of Summer Term **** June 24 - June 30: M1) Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven (9 measures of new music) July 1 - July 7: M2) Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven (6 measures of new music) July 8 - July 14: M3) Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven (6 measures of new music) July 15 - July 21: M4) Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven (6 measures of new music) July 22 - July 28: M5) Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven (6 measures of new music) July 29 - August 4: M6) Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven (6 measures of new music) August 5 - August 11 M7) Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven (6 measures of new music) August 12 - August 18: M8) Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven (6 measures of new music) August 19 - August 25: M9) Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven (8 measures of new music) August 26 - September 1: M10) Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven (10 measures of new music) Performances **** End of Summer Term **** No lesson scheduled for 2 weeks, so no fees are charged to stay enrolled **** Start of Fall Term **** September 16 - September 22: MP) Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven Performances September 23 - September 29: G1) Gymnopedie by Satie September 30 - October 6: G2) Gymnopedie by Satie October 7 - October 13: G3) Gymnopedie by Satie October 14 - October 20: G4) Gymnopedie by Satie October 21 - October 27: GP) Gymnopedie by Satie performances W1) Winter by Vivaldi October 28 - November 3: W2) Winter by Vivaldi November 4 - November 10: W3) Winter by Vivaldi November 11 - November 17: W4) Winter by Vivaldi November 18 - November 24: W5) Winter by Vivaldi November 25 - December 1: ***US Thanksgiving week*** No Class December 2 - December 8: W6) Winter by Vivaldi December 9 - December 15: W7) Winter by Vivaldi December 16 - December 23: W8) Winter by Vivaldi December 24 - January 5: ***US Winter break 2 weeks*** No Class January 6 - January 12: January 13 - January 19: January 20 - January 26: January 27 - February 2: February 3 - February 9: February 10 - February 16: February 17 - February 23: February 24 - March 2: March 3 - March 9: March 10 - March 16: March 17 - March 23: ***Spring Break week*** No Class

Other Details
Parental Guidance
Google Slideshow links for each lesson are provided after class to the learner's Outschool system email. Music slides may be printed for practicing off screens.
Any youtube videos posted on the Classroom page will be opened in a small window on Outschool. Learners will NOT be asked to go to Youtube on their own.
Pre-Requisites
Proficiency of the three songs from Piano Music Class Level I or assessment of 30+ months previous experience.
Supply List
🎹 Access to a piano or keyboard during lesson where the learners elbows are the same height as the keys. 🔥 Keyboards on tables are often too high (chest or shoulder height) which can harm wrists and hinder movement 🔥. Stand at the keyboard, find a tall chair, use a cushion, or use a keyboard stand to make the keys at the proper level. 💻Students need to be able to see the classroom screen where the music will be shown in a slideshow while they are sitting at their piano. 👂It is very important to make sure I can hear your piano and that it is not blocked by the background noise suppression through Zoom. 👉**Please turn on "Original Sound for Musicians" in the Zoom audio settings before class. ** If you need instructions on how to enable this setting, please watch this youtube tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEZMRtrSsYY Students using a desktop or laptop can adjust this setting during the meeting. However, students using a phone or tablet must enable Original Sound before entering the class or I may not be able to hear your piano. 🎼 Learners will get access to a class slideshow in their email with the songs and homework worksheets weekly for practicing. A 3-ring binder and plastic page protectors may help you keep the printed music sheets organized. 📝 Learners may like having paper and pencil.
