Self-Paced Class | 1 Week (5 Lesson Videos) In this introductory music theory class, students will explore the piano keys by creating their own 2 and 3 black key "house" drawings to learn about the 7 music letters. In Lessons 1-3, we will explore the piano keys and create our "little" 2-black key "house" to learn about C-D-E music letters; and then draw the "big" 3-black key "house" to explore the F-G-A-B music letters. Week 1Lesson 1Hello Piano KeysIn this lesson, we will explore the piano by discussing the various characteristics of the instrument. What makes the piano unique? How do we play the piano? Let’s draw your own piano to learn about the instrument.Lesson 2"Little" 2 Black Key HouseIn this lesson, we will focus on the 2 black piano keys to learn about the CDE music letters. Let’s draw your own “little” 2-black piano key house for your favorite animal friends.Lesson 3"Big" 3 Black Key HouseIn this lesson, we will focus on the 3 black piano keys to learn about the FGAB music letters. Let’s draw your own “big” 3-black piano key house for yourself with all your favorite things.Lesson 4"Grand" Piano Key HouseIn this lesson, we will review all the 7 music letters by creating your own “Grand” piano key house. Let’s bring the 2 and 3 black keys together to practice naming all the 7 music letters on the piano.Lesson 53 More ProjectsIn this final lesson, I will introduce you to three more "Piano Key House" projects to help you continue practice naming the 7 music letters on the piano keys. The 3 projects will be: "Community" of Piano Key Houses "Secret Garden" "Create Your Own Story"
Students will learn the 7 music letters (ABCDEFG) on the piano keys.
Homework Offered
🎨 All 5 lessons include drawing activities for the students to create, practice, and review the 7 music letters that they are learning in the class. 📝 All the drawing activities are optional for the students and they will not be checked by the instructor. However, if the students wish to share their drawing(s) with me, I would love to hear from them and happy to share feedback. 🎵 Students are welcome to use the PDFs as their guides for the drawings and/or use their own sketchbook/papers.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
