Even though this class is an asynchronous class, students are still able to personalized feedback on their playing by submitting videos, however is easiest for them - Flipgrid, Google Drive, or directly uploading the video in the classroom.Class Experience
Who's ready to play like a rock star!? I know I am and we are going to have a blast together! This asynchronous class is a perfect fit for learning music because each student can take their own unique amount of time to practice and master the material and still always have the assistance of the teacher through the classroom chat or video submission. Students have access to the instructor when the lesson is too confusing or boring. Students will be able to choose from a range of assignments, including using the teacher's Flipgrid.com classroom to submit videos of themselves playing the assignments. Mid-week announcements and assignments will be provided to supplement the prerecorded content, as each class has individual needs. New videos are posted each week until all the course concepts are covered and each student has what they need to master the material!

ANY keyboard will work! Really. It's not what you play, it's how you play it :) I've even had students who learn for a while practicing on a paper printout of a picture of a keyboard. We're training our muscles, not performing a concerto. Fancier pianos ARE more fun to play and might inspire more practice time, but I could do lots of great practice even on a little toy keyboard.

I have been teaching music to kids and adults for over 20 years, and it's the world's best job.
A credentialed teacher, I primarily teach piano, guitars, drums, ukulele, banjo, bass, saxophone, and flute. Besides teaching music, I also spent many years as an elementary classroom teacher, and like to spend as much time as possible with my wife and six kids.
I believe that learning an instrument isn’t magic! Anyone can jump in and learn what they want. You CAN do at least some of it and you can’t mess it up. The music is here and it wants to be your friend.
Music is just a foreign language, so it can be as serious or as leisurely as you want. You can dedicate your life to the language or just learn a few words. The music is here to serve us, not the other way around. Most piano and guitar programs are insanely inaccessible, but my mission is to fix that with a specialized approach for every learning style. Jump in and explore. I’ll help show you around!
Let's explore. Let's learn. Let's rock!
