Calculate potential and kinetic energy Identify the system and change to internal energy of a given scenario using the First Law of Thermodynamics Explain the difference in temperature change in two substances based on their specific heat Calculate the energy change for a given phase change in a substance Understand absolute zero and convert between multiple temperature scales Use gas laws to explore the relationships between variables of gases, such as pressure and temperature Explain Pascal’s principle relating to fluids in a piston Calculate the wavelength and frequency of waves Explain the Doppler shift using a real world example Order the sections of an electromagnetic spectrum according to wavelength

Formative assessments will be given regularly in each class meeting to assess student learning and connections. Formative assessment information will be available upon parent request.
