Class Experience

Photography is a learning process filled with skills that will take you far. From learning basic photography to composition, this class will help facilitate your abilities in a fun learning environment. Every week, we'll learn something new and valuable.

If you're unsure how to use Manuel settings, that's fine; you're never too young to learn and practice. We'll talk about lenses, types of cameras, and ways to maintain your camera, especially when you're unsure why your camera is getting foggy. No photographic challenge is off-limits in this class.

Day 1: We'll get to know each other and your goals. We'll go over basic photographic concepts and see how much you know. You don't have to come into class as a novice, but have a willingness to learn. You'll leave with a simple photography assignment that you'll slowly develop and present on day 4.

Day 2: If you have any questions about your project, we'll review them at the beginning of class. This class is the time to learn how to navigate the issues we experience when photographing. Next, we'll review manual settings, whether you have a Nikon, Canon, or Leica. This class isn't intimidating but fun. I'll assign students a project by asking them to find a photograph or a photographer they would like to present. If we can't finish the presentation, it will continue on day 3.

Day 3: I'll be happy to go over last-minute project questions. Next, we'll talk about camera types and lenses. And give you a taste of Lightroom and Photoshop. You don't need these programs; they're tools for students to see.

Day 4: Students will present images from the last few weeks and discuss them.

Like my other classes, I will adapt to suit the student's needs as best as possible. A fun learning environment is necessary. I understand students might not get the best experience sitting in front of the computer. Within the three weeks, I rotate verbal lessons with photographic practice to give students a well-rounded experience.

**Please let me know if you do not see an available time for your learner. I do my best to schedule classes, but I am willing to schedule on weekday mornings, afternoons, or evenings if requested.**
Learning Goals
In this fun-filled class, students will learn to focus on a single topic. With an expressive approach, the goal is to navigate their camera creatively and leave with more confidence. And hopefully, with a little more inspiration.

With a strong passion for art education and a decade of experience in teaching and photography, I am excited about working in the creative environment of Art education.

From 2013-2020, I had the privilege of teaching photography at the Palm Beach Photography Centre. This experience not only honed my instructional skills but also deepened my understanding of the value of fostering creativity and artistic expression in children and adults. My tenure there allowed me to witness firsthand the transformative power of art education on young minds.

In addition to my teaching role, I dedicated time to enrich myself in K-13 education further. Working as a substitute teacher, I immersed myself in various classrooms, learning from seasoned educators and adopting diverse teaching strategies. This experience, combined with my background as a practicing photographer, uniquely equips me to bridge the gap between theory and practice, inspiring students to explore their artistic talents and push their creative boundaries.

I am drawn to online education for its reputation as an institution that values innovative teaching methods and encourages students to embrace artistic experimentation. I am excited about the prospect of contributing and helping students develop not only as skilled artists but also as critical thinkers and confident individuals.

I graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Journalism and Communications and a focus in the Fine Arts.
