Class Experience

At the start of each week, students will be given a challenge for the week. Students are able to submit as many photographs as they would like to complete the challenge.
Each week will have a full-page PDF with an example of a challenge submission for that week, tips and tricks on how to accomplish the task, and some helpful prompts for giving other students feedback.

Throughout the week, students are strongly encouraged to comment on submissions giving thoughts, feelings, and any constructive feedback.

Week 1: This week students will introduce themselves to the teacher/class with a selfie in their backyard. This week’s PDF will include instructions on focus, composition, and a focal point.

Week 2: This week students will introduce their backyard to the teacher/class with macro photography. This week’s PDF will include instructions on background, stability, detail.

Week 3: This week students will find something unique in their backyard that they haven’t seen other students posting in their previous submissions. For example, students may have a special painted rock or an old tricycle. This week’s PDF will include instructions on unique perspectives, creative captures, and finding your own photography voice.

Week 4: This week students will use another student’s submission to recreate and reimagine it in their own backyard. For example, one student may have shared a selfie of them next to an apple tree. The student re-creating the photo may take an apple and capture it within a bed of grass. This week’s PDF will include instructions on recreating and reimagining work.
At the end of the four weeks, each student will be given an award based on their submissions. This will be given in a PDF so the student can print and display it joyfully!
