Let's develop a good foundation in reading! This class is perfect for a learner who is just beginning their reading journey. We will read simple sentences such as "Pop got on the mat". This class is great for kids who are just starting to read simple words on their own. If they need more of a challenge, I will adjust the lesson based on their current reading ability. This class is taught in English.
Students will learn basic phonemes. Students will learn various phonemic awareness skills. Students will learn high-frequency words. Students will learn to recognize words in a sentence.
I received a certificate for IMSE's Phonological Awareness course based on Orton-Gillingham. I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. I received my Teacher Certificate in Idaho in 2011, which allowed me to teach Reading/Writing for 7th and 12th grade for 2 years. I received my TESOL certificate and taught ESL for 5 years.
No supplies, but you can bring a pop-it toy for beginner CVC blending if applicable.
Feel free to share any preferences beforehand—whether it's avoiding magic or spooky themes. Some books might feature fight scenes, dinosaurs, or monsters. I'll give you a heads-up a week before introducing a new book, allowing you to review it and ensure it aligns with your child's comfort.
