Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
This Flex Class is for learners to begin forming a foundation to read by sounding out and recognizing short vowel words.
This Flex Class is scheduled for 7 weeks. We will focus on recognizing words, sounding out words, writing words and putting short vowel words into sentences.
Each session will focus on a different short vowel (a,e,i,o,u) and in our final session we will work on words with different medial vowel sounds.
Each week I will post a video introducing the short vowel we will be working on that week. Each week there will be interactive activities that will incorporate the short vowel we are learning and practicing that week. I will model each activity and then students will complete the activity on their own after viewing the video. Posts in the classroom will include pre-recorded lessons, scavenger hunt interactive assignment - where students will be asked to find different items that begin with each vowel sound as well as hunt for words with the medial vowel sound we are working on that week, I Have...Who Has interactive game - where I start by posting a short vowel picture with the heading I have ___, Who has ___ a student will respond with a word or a picture, I will check daily and reply if no other student has posted to keep the game going, word challenge activity, I Spy sight word challenge game, songs and more fun and interactive hands on activities to keep students engaged in learning.

Each week the attachments will include:
*short vowel word cards
*short vowel Read and Roll practice activity
*short vowel Read & Find game
*Roll a Word short vowel game
*short vowel word practice activity sheet
*short vowel Slide Down the Hill game
and
an interactive activity will be listed each Wednesday for your child to complete.

Students are encouraged to post their finished activities and upload photos to the classroom each week. This gives students a chance to interact with other students in the class, as well as let me observe each students progress and respond with appropriate feedback to each student.

To be successful in this class, students need to have a beginning foundation of letter sounds.

Depending on the student's level/skills parent involvement might be needed during class.

Below is a list of the short vowel we will work on each week.
Week 1 - short a
Week 2 - short e
Week 3 - short i
Week 4 - short o

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi my name is Lynn and I am excited to be teaching on Outschool.

I graduated with a bachelor degree in education. I am a certified teacher with an endorsement in Pre-K - 4th grade.
I taught first grade for 18 years and I have taught kindergarten for the last 11 years. I also have over 15 years of experience volunteering with pre-schoolers and young adults. I love teaching and making an impact on children of all ages. I feel so blessed to be able to have a job I love!

I believe that learning should be interactive and fun as well as educational. I also believe that all children learn and develop at their own pace and I believe in meeting children where they are when they come to my class. I will offer a variety of activities in my classes to enhance each students learning experience.

In my free time I enjoy riding my bike, crafting with my cricut, reading, going to the beach and pool, shopping and spending time with my family and friends.

I look forward to becoming a part of your child's educational journey!
