Class Experience
I use the science of reading to teach your learner reading skills. After an initial assessment, we will develop goals for future lessons based on your learner's current reading level and needs. 🅱🅴🅶🅸🅽🅽🅴🆁 🆁🅴🅰🅳🅴🆁: I use a systematic phonics approach with Orton-Gillingham strategies to review prior knowledge and build a strong foundation in reading. I am a licensed and highly qualified teacher for grades 2-9, with degrees in early childhood, elementary, and middle school level education. I was a Head Start teacher for ten years before becoming a public school teacher. I have additional training in teaching reading and was named reading teacher of the year twice as a classroom teacher.

I love working with learners with specific needs, as they often just need a slower pace and more repetition. I welcome fidgets and encourage movement and a quick brain-break to maintain focus.

Some learners may read passages to practice fluency and comprehension. The reading passages will be at an appropriate age level for your learner. Please let me know if there are specific topics that you do not want your learner to read about in class.
