Homework
1-2 hours per week. To enhance reading skills, this class provides a range of engaging activities aimed at practicing reading, spelling, and identifying consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) words. Learners will have the opportunity to use CVC Readers, flashcards, sorting games, and "write and find" pages. These resources are designed to support learners in developing their literacy skills through fun and interactive methods.

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
This self-paced class is designed for learners are comfortable reading CVC words by rhyming, but need extra help reading them in sentences or mixed up with words from other word families. 

Instruction will be based around a short vowels and words from the Kindergarten Dolch Sight Word list. Learners will learn how to blend words with different beginning and ending sounds. Learners will practice reading, writing, and using these words in sentences. Learners will be provided with 6 guided reading videos based ok books (provided) that contain the words we are working on.

What is the weekly schedule?
Lesson 1: short a words
Lesson 2: short e words
Lesson 3: short i words
Lesson 4: short o words
Lesson 5: short u words
Lesson 6: vowel sound mix-up games (mat, met, mit, etc.)

Learners will be provided with resources to help them practice reading CVC words in sentences. Each lesson includes: 
 *One video that teaches CVC words
 *One pdf to write CVC words during the video
 *One video that guides learners through a reader focused on the CVC words
 *CVC word flashcards
 *CVC pdf for additional practice
 *Nearpod activities for continual practice

How does this class work? 
This class is a self-paced class, so there are no live meetings. This class offers 6 recordings (short a, e, i, o, u, and mixed vowel words). The recordings will be recorded as if your learner is in a class. Instruction will introduce the vowel sound, model how to blend letters to create words, and model how to read the weekly story. Learners will then be directed to Nearpod to play instruction based games to practice these skills. A Nearpod account is not required for this class.  Learners will also be provided with weekly worksheets, stories, and activities.

 Learners will practice reading, writing, and spelling short /o/ vowel words. Learners will complete an in-class interactive notebook page. Learners will be provided homework to extend the learning. Homework includes writing and sorting activities, flashcards, and a short reader.

Parental Guidance
Parent guidance is required due to the use of a third party resource- Nearpod. A Nearpod account is not required for this class.
Pre-Requisites
Learners should have an understanding of letter sounds and blending (sounding out words). This class is designed for learners that have an understanding of sounding out simple CVC words and need extra help reading the words in sentences.
