Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
In this ongoing live class, students will build their reading skills by practicing building words through learning word families.
This is a teacher led class. We will practice through slides and flashcards, choral reading as a class, and one on one opportunity for students to explore the topic. Students will play group games to assess their comprehension. I believe that when students are given the opportunity to explore and explain a subject in a fun and engaging way, they will be able to retain the information easier. Pre-requisite: Students need to know their letters and are ready to start putting beginning letter sounds with word endings.

I am Mrs V, as my classroom students call me. I teach phonics, grammar, science, math, and music classes. I am licensed to teach kindergarten through 6th grade. I also have a minor in music. I taught preschool for 6 years and I did student teaching in kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd, and 6th grades. I have worked part time in the public school system for the last 5 years. I homeschool my two youngest children and enjoy finding fun new ways to teach things. I also teach ESL classes online. I believe that including the student's interests into the lesson engages the learning and makes learning fun and more easily attainable. Fun, hands on activities and games provide an engaging learning environment. My hobbies are animals (I live on a small farm), music (I minored in music), reading and crocheting. I love working with children and seeing the light in their eyes when they learn something new.
