Teacher expertise and credentials
Missouri Teaching Certificate in English/Language Arts
I am a 16 year certified public school educator who loves to teach academic writing. I have a degree in Secondary Education and a Masters of Arts in the Teaching of writing. I have not only taught students in the classroom, but I have trained and collaborated with other teachers on how to intentionally implement writing into their curriculums.
My teaching philosophy is simple, "Every student is a writer waiting to happen." My goal is not just to teach writing, but to teach students how to embrace their learning differences and styles as strengths. I tell students on the first day, "I have never met a student who cannot write. You have a voice, and we are here to explore it."
When I am not teaching writing, I play the piano, I am a makeup addict, and I love sports. I also love teaching and volunteering at my church.
