This class will use formulas to find the perimeters and areas of squares, rectangles, triangles, and circles. Each of these concepts will have real world examples, as well. I teach with a slide presentation to model the concepts, practice together with the learners, and provide several independent practice problems. I strongly encourage discussion and participation from the learners as we go through the lesson. There's a worksheet for notes provided. Other worksheets can be provided, if...
Students will be able to use the formulas for finding the area of squares, rectangles, and triangles. Using these formulas, students will also find the surface areas of rectangular and triangular prisms.Students will understand the difference between area and circumference of a circle and be able to compute both measurements.
3 files available upon enrollmentA calculator, pencil, and paper would be helpful. If you run off the worksheets that go along with the lesson, they will be able to work on their own or use them for practice later. An attached file with basic notes for Area would also be useful.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
