In this ongoing class taught by a special education teacher, learners (4th grade, 5th grade, 6th grade, or 7th grade) will practice their essay writing skills & improve vocabulary, grammar, and spelling! Neurodiverse learners welcome!

Welcome to my writing class! In this class, we will be learning how to answer those tricky essay questions! We will talk about the steps of answering a writing prompt and gather some tips and tricks along the way! Students will improve their ability to answer essay questions/writing prompts using varied vocabulary and proper grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and spelling.
I am a certified elementary K-6 and special education Pre-K-8 teacher. I have been teaching reading, math, science, and history for over 11 years. Over the past 6 years, I have taught reading/language arts and history to 5th and 6th grade students, while also providing 1-on-1 tutoring support in all core subjects (reading, math, science, history). Prior to that, I taught and tutored in grades K-12.

Learner progress is assessed in this class through informal assessment (discussion, group questions) and ability to contribute to the classroom essay responses.Grades Offered
I can support your learner with any unique needs. Some example supports can include visual aids, breaking down assignments into pieces and chunks, reading aloud of material where appropriate, and positive reinforcement/verbal praise.
Learners will not need any materials for this course. I will provide visual aids after class to assist with future writing. Learners may want to have some scratch paper and a pencil to brainstorm ideas (optional).
