In this magical class, young learners will uncover the mysteries of numbers and shapes, unlocking the real-life magic hidden within mathematical patterns. From exploring place value secrets to mastering multiplication spells and delving into the geometry of enchanted shapes, each week promises an adventure where math comes to life in the most captivating and imaginative ways. Join us for a thrilling exploration where learning is not just educational but truly magical! Hey Math Explorers! 🌟 Ready for a math adventure like no other? In "Pattern Pioneers," we're diving into the amazing world of numbers, shapes, and operations. Imagine unlocking the secrets of place value, reading numbers like magicians, and even skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s with a sprinkle of magic dust! 🧙♂️ We'll tackle word problems together and discover the fascinating symmetry of shapes. But that's not all – our journey extends to 3rd grade, where we'll master thousands in place value, dive into multiplication and division, and even explore the magic of fractions! 🎩✨ In 4th grade, get ready to round numbers, conquer multi-step word problems, and become a wizard with fractions and decimals. Shape classification and data interpretation will be our final quests! Two class sessions will be offered on Tuesday Evenings Session 1 (5:30-6:25) Session 2 (6:30-7:30) Topics to include: 2nd & 3rd Grade focus. Week 1 (2/13): Place Value- How to identify and use patterns to help. Week 2: (2/20): How to use Place Value to add & subtract. Week 3: (2/27): Word Problem Practice! Read it more than once, find patterns, and use strategies to solve. (addition & subtraction focus) Week 4: (3/5) Math in the Real-World (Addition & Subtraction) 3rd & 4th Grade Focus (2nd-grade students will be exposed to new concepts and review from weeks 1-4 ) Week 5: (3/12) Place Value to millions: The Patterns continue. Week 6: (3/19) Multiplcation Review and how to use place value to help! Week 7: (3/26) Word Problem Practice: (Read it more than once, find patterns, and use strategies to solve. (Multiplication Practice). Week 8: (4/2) Math in the Real-World. Week 9: (4/9) Units of Measurement. Week 10: (4/16) Use patterns when identifying shapes. Week 11: (4/23) How to think Multiplication when Dividing! Week 12: (4/30) Word Problems Across the Concepts! Learning Goals
1. Numerical Wizardry: By the end of the course, students will proficiently demonstrate an understanding of place value up to millions, confidently read and write numbers, and effortlessly perform skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s, showcasing their mastery of numerical concepts.
2. Geometric Explorers: Students will develop a keen eye for geometry, identifying and describing 2D and 3D shapes with precision. They will also grasp the concept of symmetry and be able to partition shapes into equal parts, showcasing their proficiency in geometric understanding.
3. Mathematical Magicians: Through engaging activities and problem-solving exercises, students will acquire solid strategies for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. They will tackle word problems with confidence, demonstrating their ability to apply operational strategies to real-world scenarios.
