Students can draw their own fish outlines or work directly on their print-out if they choose not to draw the fish outlines themselves. I'll provide lots of help with choosing lines patterns that will help make their composition interesting. My style of teaching is one that is very relaxed and encouraging. My goal is to allow my students to explore new mediums and experiment with new skills. This is a fun interactive project that all of my students have enjoyed!
Learning Goals
Students will understand how shape and pattern work together to create an interesting composition. They will design their fish using various lines - straight, curved, wavy, broken, thick and thin. They'll create color schemes based on their patterns. Most of all, this will be a fun, interactive experience for little artists to explore an imaginary world of fish they create themselves!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I've always been artist. My earliest memory is tracing the shadows and light on the walls with my finger. So many things were interesting to me and I wanted to explore. If this sounds like your child, Congratulations! You've got a CREATIVE kid! I have always been grateful that my Mother encouraged my creativity from the earliest age. I would love to do the same for your child and help them grow as an artist.
My classes range from learning basic skills in drawing to the more complex concepts such as achieving realism in portraits. I will help your child understand how watercolor reacts differently than tempera or acrylic paint and even how holding your pencil a certain way makes all the difference in a drawing.
My philosophy of teaching Art is simple ... I teach children to learn to see as an ARTIST sees. It's as simple as that. Once they start to notice the subtleties all creative people see, the skills will follow.
I've been an Elementary Art Specialist for the past 6 years and a teacher since 2005. I enjoy working with all age groups and truly love hearing the insights and observations that only children can experience. Their unfiltered and often hilarious thoughts about being a kid in the 21st century help to keep me young!
On a personal note, I've recently bought my first home, a beautiful mid-century bungalow with a sun filled room I use as my art studio. My little dog Zoey shares my creative life with me. We've travelled all over the United States together but make Florida our home. Zoey loves kids too and if you're lucky, she might even pop in for a visit during one of our lessons. I hope to see you soon!
