We'll be making hand made pasta with things you already have in your pantry or fridge - flour, eggs, salt. On the first day we'll discuss the different types of flour that have traditionally been used to make pasta and the differences between them. We'll also make our pasta with simple ingredients by hand. On the second day we'll roll it out with a rolling pin (no pasta machine required) and learn how to cut it for different types - fettuccine, farfalle, papardelle, and ravioli. On day three we will talk about different sauces for different shapes and sauce ours with a creamy garlic butter sauce.
Learning Goals
Students will learn to make the basic pasta dough, learn how to cut and shape the pasta into the perfect style, and how to cook and sauce the pasta for a delicious homemade meal. Students will gain confidence in the kitchen and explore the joys of homemade food.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I'm Amanda. I am an avid reader, an online ESL teacher, and afternoon tutor. I live in Little Rock, AR. I taught Spanish I-3 in a brick and mortar middle and high school for eight wonderful years, and have moved to the more flexible schedule of online teaching. I teach classes in beginning conversational Spanish, Book Clubs for Teenagers, Vegetarian Cooking, and some Nature & Gardening classes. I believe that everyone learns best in a fun and communicative environment that involves music, games, and fun activities. I tailor my classes to meet my students where they are - in other words, we all learn differently, and I enjoy the challenges and the rewards! I graduated from the University of Arkansas Fayetteville where I studied Anthropology and Spanish, and am almost finished with my Masters of Education. I love to travel and lived in Oaxaca, Mexico. When I'm not in online classes having fun teaching, you can find me spending time with my three rescue dogs, playing in the garden, cooking up some delicious vegetarian food, or spending time with my favorite people. I'm an avid reader and life-long learner. I have been an after-school tutor for the last eight years for students who need help with literacy, cultural competency, English, Spanish, and social studies. I can't wait to see your young learner in my classroom.
