Description
Class Experience
Students will learn to train their dog to do a particular trick each week. Teacher will suggest a trick or learners can suggest a trick that they want to teach their dog.
Teacher is a credentialed elementary school teacher, Certified Dog Trainer CDT-C, Alliance of Therapy Dogs Tester Observer and Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator.
Learners can practice 10 to 15 minutes a day training their dogs the trick they learned that week.
Dog, 4 to 6 foot leash (not retractable), soft little pieces of training treats, and any transitional object used in training such as a bell, hula hoop, stick, etc. Bells can be purchased for around $10 on Amazon.
Informal observation.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Dogs are unpredictable and some dogs take longer to learn than others. In addition, certain dogs may not be able to do some tricks due to size, age or health issues. Space is needed to do training. *** Dogs should know some basic commands such as sit, stay and down to be able to perform tricks successfully. Puppies are welcome but should be at least 4 months old. This is trick training which is fun and rewarding for learner and dog, but is not meant to substitute basic command training.
