Do you want to give your pancakes some pizzazz? In this one time cooking class, students will learn how to create beautiful masterpieces made of pancake batter that taste delicious too! First, students will learn proper kitchen vocabulary and measuring techniques. Second, we will discuss safety precautions we need to take in the kitchen when preparing pancakes. Third, we will apply these new techniques and create pancake art which your whole family will enjoy. No experience...
Students will improve their measuring skills, kitchen math skills, learn terminology used in baking and will enhance their cooking techniques. Students will cook pancakes during class.
I have been baking and cooking all of my life! I am an Ontario Certified Teacher with a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts. I also teach Food and Nutrition in an Ontario High School and have taught many young people how to make this recipe successfully. I love to share my joy of cooking with students and to see their confidence in the kitchen improve.
No homework unless they want to make them again! Students will have to clean up and wash their dishes after class.
Squeeze bottles or piping bags with small tips, food coloring (I recommend gel food coloring but if you can't find it, no worries), flour, sugar, eggs, milk, oil, baking powder, baking soda, salt, non stick spray, cookie cutters, large frying pan OR griddle, thin flipping spatula
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be given informal, anecdotal comments during the class.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students may need help using a hot griddle or pan to cook their pancakes in.
