In this 4 week self paced class we will learn about 4 different artists (Degas, Kahlo, Sisley and Munch) and create art pieces that are inspired by their work. We will talk about their genre of art, create pieces to be proud of, and learn about the artists through interactive games and scavenger hunts. Week 1Lesson 1Edgar DegasThis week, we're meeting Edgar Degas, a famous artist who loved painting ballerinas. We'll learn about him and Impressionism, a new way of painting back then. Then, get ready to create your own Degas-inspired masterpiece using crayons and watercolors! Don't forget to share your artwork – we can't wait to see your creativity shine!Week 2Lesson 2Frida KahloThis week, we're celebrating Frida Kahlo, a groundbreaking artist who defied expectations! We'll explore her life and vibrant paintings, including her masterpiece "Viva la Vida Watermelons." Get ready to create your own Frida-inspired artwork using watercolors and crayons!Week 3Lesson 3Alfred SisleyThis week, we're meeting Alfred Sisley, an Impressionist master of color! We'll explore his landscapes, then create our own vibrant masterpieces using crayons and watercolors. Get ready to unleash your creativity!Week 4Lesson 4Edvard MunchThis week, we meet Edvard Munch, a Scandinavian artist known for his powerful emotions! Explore his life, art movements, and The Scream. Then, create your own expressive masterpiece with watercolors and crayons.
Each learner will need: - A watercolor set - A brush (any size will do) - A cup with water to clean the brush - Set of crayons (or oil pastels) - Heavy white paper (watercolor paper is preferred but not completely necessary) - Table protection (newspaper, butcher paper etc). - Smock or old t-shirt to keep the paints off of your child's clothing
Parents are encouraged to be close by during the classes to help their learner with the painting process to minimize spills (especially with electronics close by!) and to make sure their paints and markers stay on the paper.
