Hej och välkommen! Swedish is an old language with ties to the Norse language but has also been influenced by German, French, and English. In this class, the student will learn to use a few Swedish expressions and learn how to pronounce Swedish and decode a Swedish text. Week 1Lesson 1Alphabet and pronunciationWe will learn how to say hello, how are you, and ask someone their name. We will also go over the Swedish alphabet and practice pronunciation, including the Swedish letters Å, Ä, Ö. We will also talk about Swedish Fika.Week 2Lesson 2Alphabet and pronunciationWe will learn how to say hello, how are you, and ask someone their name. We will also go over the Swedish alphabet and practice pronunciation, including the Swedish letters Å, Ä, Ö.Week 3Lesson 3My roomThe students will draw a map of a room in their house, and we will label everything in Swedish. We will also go over placement words like underneath and next to.Week 4Lesson 4Where is the grocery store?We will practice asking and giving directions by using a made up town.Week 5Lesson 5Family membersLearning about the names of different family members (parents, siblings, and grandparents). The students will also write a few short sentences to practice saying, for example, my mom's name is Anna.Week 6Lesson 6The forest and AllemansrättenThis lesson is about the forest and forest animals. We will also learn about the Swedish Allemansrätten/The Right to Roam. The student will write a short "story" about the forest.Week 7Lesson 7Going shoppingWe will practice asking for a specific food and how much it is. We will also learn about the Swedish krona and a few specific Swedish foods, including falukorv and princesstårta.
