Class Experience

This class is designed for students who have either taken my other Swedish classes or know enough Swedish to participate. These twelve weeks are focused on conversations, and the students will do a lot of reading and speaking. There will be a booklet in the classroom with the texts we will use.

See below for a weekly schedule.

Week 1: Sofia och Lisa-read the story about the two friends catching up and practicing asking about how someone is doing.

Week 2: Mika och Iben fikar-read the story about the two friends who are having coffee and practicing talking about work or school

Week 3: Review weeks one and two and use the breakout rooms to converse in Swedish.

Week 4: Svea och Aylas husdjur-read the story about Svea and Ayla talking about their pets and practice asking and answering questions about pets

Week 5: Alex och Emma och deras hundar-read the story about Alex and Emma talking about Emma's dog and practice asking and answering questions about pets

Week 6: Review weeks four and five and use the breakout rooms to have conversations in Swedish about pets

Week 7: Simon och Love-read the story about the two friends Simon and Love. Create your own list of phrases that are good to use in conversations from the story, and add more with the teacher's help.

Week 8 Gå på bio-read the story about Johan and Erik and when they go to the movies. Create your own list of phrases that are good to use in conversations from the story, and add more with the teacher's help.

Week 9: På Sjökrogen- read the story about a group of friends going to a restaurant. Create your own list of phrases that are good to use in a conversation from the story, and add more with the teacher's help.

Week 10: Julia på vårdcentralen- read the story about Julia, who has a sore throat and goes to the doctor. Create your own list of phrases from the story and add more with the teacher's help.

Week 11 and 12: Review the whole class and practice conversations using the lists the students created from the four last stories and the previous chapters. We will use the breakout rooms to practice having conversations in Swedish.
