Class Experience

Owl Diaries is a beginning chapter book that has colorful illustrations on every page. It’s part of Scholastic’s high interest early chapter book line for newly independent readers or readers who need more practice reading shorter chapter books with pictures to help with decoding and comprehension.

Each class will follow roughly the same pattern. I will read 1-2 chapters out loud and we will discuss these chapters and the chapters read as homework. I’ll go over any tricky words that will come up in the following chapters. Next we will write a few sentences related to the chapters. For example “Tell me about a pet you have or would like to have. At the end of each class we will do a craft.

Hello! I’m so excited to teach classes on Outschool. Over the last 20 years I have taught 3rd grade, ESL, and Title reading and math to kindergarten-5th grade in public schools. I love teaching children how to read and getting them hooked on books. Over the years I’ve taught reluctant readers and enthusiastic readers. I’m always on the look out for interesting and engaging children’s books in order to be prepared for any student I’m privileged to teach.
