Strategies of being upfront and bold will be encouraged since student will only be interacting with the teacher. Teacher will help student to see self from a different view point. Students will build confidence as he or she begins to identify talents and gifts. As his or her eyes open about what he/she is able to offer others, he/she will conquer shyness and be bold. Confidence comes in knowing who you are and what you are good at. We are all good at different things. But we are all good at SOME thing. May we capitalize on what we can do and not what we cannot do. Day 1: Break ice session. You will have a chance to answer the following ice-breaker questions with the teacher. a. If your mom would let you eat anything you want for one whole day, what would you pick to eat? b. What was the most fun thing you did in your life? or What fun thing you wish you could do for one whole day? c. what was your happiest moment or saddest moment or scariest moment? You will complete an activity to identify your gifts and talents and interest. Everyone has different gifts, talents and interests. And it is ok to be different. Who is your favorite person in the world and why? b. If you could be an animal for one day, which animal would you pick and why? c. What was the most embarrassing moment in your life? Homework for today: When you see a new kid at a store or park or in one of your online classes, go up to him or her and just say "Hi. Good morning." Teacher expertise and credentials
I teach Conversation Cantonese, basic math and language arts to Kindergarteners and life skill classes to older elementary-age kids. My professonal background is in Social Work and I am currently in my last year of schooling to become a certified Special Ed Teacher. I have worked as an emergency-hired Special Ed teacher in an elementary school for one year. I have worked as a substitute teacher for the elementary schools for two years. So in total, I have 3 years experience working with elementary school students.
My philosophy behind teaching is that anyone can learn no matter what level they are at. And students learn best when class is interactive and fun. Thus, occasionally, I will use humor in class.
Something fun and personal about me is that I have a cat named "Baby."
