In this ongoing course, we will highlight different letters of the alphabet each week and create drawings based on that letter. This is an ongoing course which will cycle every nine weeks. Each week, the learners will observe and discuss things that start with the letters of the week, and then will have an opportunity to share something that starts with each letter with the class. This lesson provides several positive learning outcomes. By observing, discussing, and drawing things that focus on letters of the alphabet, the learners are able to gain a deeper understanding of language arts, as well as our world around us. Other learning outcomes include positive communication and critical thinking skills. Group discussion during the presentation and activity promotes positive communication, as does sharing the artworks in the concluding discussion. Additionally, the learners will utilize critical thinking skills by applying, analyzing and synthesizing their prior knowledge and experiences into the class discussion as well as into the artwork they create.
