The first session will be an assessment for the tutor to determine what your student already knows and how she can best help, and will give her a framework from which to plan future lessons.Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 4
This one-on-one tutoring will use the Orton Gillingham method (not a curriculum but a method of teaching) to help your dyslexic or struggling student. Sessions are written especially for your student, changing as we move along to meet his or her individual learning needs! Lessons are written for the student after the previous lesson is complete so that I can write the next lesson to tailor fit the needs of the student as observed in the previous lesson. :) What is Orton Gillingham? Orton Gillingham is a method of teaching that is designed to help dyslexic students. It is multi-sensory, meaning material is learned using several pathways to input the information into the brain in several ways - visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. This helps the student learn and retain the information better by putting it into their long-term memory using multiple pathways. :) We will start by making sure that all of the basic morphemes and graphene are well established in the student's long-term memory. This will include introducing all graphemes and morphemes that were assessed as weak for the student and reviewing all of the ones that they already assessed to know. Next, we will move on to things like digraphs, blends, spelling rules, syllable division, etc. The speed/how much is covered will depend upon the student as lessons are written one at a time, as we move along so that they are tailor-fit to each student.
