Orton-Gillingham Reading Evaluation: Unlocking Reading Success
This 50-minute Orton-Gillingham one-on-one evaluation is designed to pin point students' exact reading knowledge and challenges. The test will help inform instruction needs.
Class experience
We will start by gathering information about the student's history with reading and any known challenges they may have faced. This could include previous assessments, educational background, and any relevant learning history. I will begin by assessing the student's oral language skills, including their ability to pronounce sounds, identify rhymes, and segment words into syllables. This may involve activities such as asking the student to repeat sounds, identify words that rhyme, or break...
Students will be made aware of what reading interventions and lessons they need to take have in order to help them get caught up with reading based on their age and grade level. The number of sessions a student will need depends on the students reading level which will drive the progression of the assessment.
I am a certificated special education teacher with 18 years working experience. I have tested and taught students with dyslexia using the science of reading and the Orton Gillingham teaching method. Evaluating students is the first step to identifying their needs and deficiencies. The evaluation helps inform parents and teachers about what students need to fill reading learning gaps.
This test helps identify the needs of students with Dyslexia.
Please have pencils, erasers and lined paper or a notebook ready for student.
