Week 1Lesson 1IntroductionThe first lesson is an overview for parents explaining how the class will be taught.Lesson 2c says /s/ before an e, i or yStudents will read and spell words with the soft c sound, such as cent and face.Lesson 3g says /s/ before an e, i or yStudents will read and spell words with the soft g sound, such as page and gel.Week 2Lesson 4FLOSS RuleThe FLOSS Rule says the letters f, l, s and z should be doubled when followed by a short vowel in a one syllable word. Students will read and spell words that follow the FLOSS Rule, such as glass and fluff.Lesson 5ck vs k at the endStudents will learn the difference between using 'ck' and 'k' at the end of a word for the /k/ sound. Students will practice reading and spelling words, such as milk and black.Week 3Lesson 6tch vs ch at the endStudents will learn the difference between using 'tch' and 'ch' at the end of a word for the /ch/ sound. Students will practice reading and spelling words, such as batch and crunch.Lesson 7dge vs ge at the endStudents will learn the difference between using 'dge' and 'ge' at the end of a word for the /j/ sound. Students will practice reading and spelling words, such as fudge and page.Week 4Lesson 8CVC Doubling RuleStudents will learn the Doubling Rule, which states if a one syllable word ends with a vowel and a consonant, then the consonant needs to be doubled before adding the ending. Students will practice reading and spelling words, such as hopped and thanked.Lesson 9Y RuleStudents will learn the Y Rule, which states when adding a suffix, change the 'y' to an 'i' if there is a consonant before the 'y'. Students will practice reading and spelling words, such as stories and puppies.Week 5Lesson 10Sensory BagsThis is a mini lesson on how to make a sensory bag to use for spelling practice. I have a bachelors degree in elementary education and a masters degree in reading education. I also have obtained my 60 hours of training in Orton Gillingham training. I resigned from my position as a reading coach at a local public school to homeschool my son with severe dyslexia.

Grades Offered
Students should have white board, dry erase marker, and eraser (or paper/pencil) when watching the videos. Each week a different material will be used in the video to facilitate multi-sensory practice. The materials will be posted prior to the video so the student can use the same material while watching the video.
