During this interactive one-time class, students will create a Balloon made from origami paper. Before we begin creating the project, I will present some information about the art of origami, I will explain some basic folds in origami, and I'll share some tips for folding paper. I teach origami using a step-by-step method. I adjust my pace according to the level of my students and I repeat steps as needed to make sure that all of my students are able to complete the project. Once we complete our project, students will have the opportunity to share their work if they are comfortable doing so. Some benefits of learning origami include: 1.) Helps to develop fine motor skills, 2.) Develops hand-eye coordination, 3.) Fosters listening skills, 4.) Helps to develop spatial reasoning and math skills (fractions, symmetry, geometry).
