Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 4
Intermediate Level
Business etiquette is important for all individuals, especially for teens just entering the workforce. Polite and respectful behavior, good communication skills, and understanding cultural norms enable individuals to establish strong connections, create a favorable impression, and find success on the job. Proper business etiquette can lead to better performance on the job and in life.

My goal is to heighten student understanding of key concepts, reinforce skills, and bridge any gaps in their knowledge to help teens learn business etiquette skills, including real world examples to enhance the learning experience making it easier to apply the concepts. I look forward to teaching your child in my classroom!!! This class will feature instruction, as well as case studies and games to enhance learning.

Here are the key fundamental topics of business etiquette that will be reviewed in this class.

1.	Professional Appearance: Dress appropriately for your industry and role. Aim for neat,
clean, and modest attire, following any company dress code.
2.	Punctuality: Arriving on time shows respect for others’ schedules and reliability in time
        management.
3.	Respectful Communication:
	•	Verbal: Use polite and clear language and avoid slang and high volume.
	•	Non-Verbal: Maintain good eye contact, use a firm handshake.
	•	Email and Written: Use proper grammar and a professional tone in all written
communication. Avoid excessive exclamation points or emojis in formal settings.
4.	Listening Skills: Show attentiveness by listening actively. Avoid interrupting others.
5.	Respect for Personal Space: Avoid intruding on others’ workspaces.
6.	Phone and Virtual Meeting Etiquette:
	•	On calls, avoid multitasking and stay focused.
	•	During virtual meetings, keep your camera on (if possible) & mute your mic.
	•	Be mindful of background noise and surroundings.
7.	Proper Introductions and Greetings: When introducing yourself or others, use full
names and relevant titles if applicable. A warm greeting helps create a positive first
        impression.
8.	Gratitude and Acknowledgment: Show appreciation with “thank you” emails or notes.
9.	Conflict Management: Handle conflicts calmly and constructively, focusing on
solutions rather than blame. Use private, respectful discussions to address any issues.
10.	Email and Digital Conduct:
	•	Timeliness: Respond to emails within a reasonable time.
	•	Professional Tone: Avoid using all caps, which can come off as yelling.
	•	Appropriate Use: Avoid sending unnecessary emails, and keep replies relevant.
11.	Cultural Sensitivity: Be aware of cultural differences. Respect customs, traditions, and
        communication styles from other cultures.
12.	Positive Attitude: Maintain a friendly and positive demeanor. Avoid gossip, negative
        comments, or pessimistic attitudes.
13.	Confidentiality: Protect sensitive information & avoid discussing confidential matters
        publicly or with unauthorized individuals.
14.	Workplace Hygiene: Keep your workspace clean and organized. Avoid eating smelly
foods in shared areas or spaces.

These basics help build trust, foster professionalism, and a productive and respectful work experience.
