Class Experience

***FALL SEMESTER STARTS AUGUST 16.***

This class can be for in-person students who need reinforcement of concepts or to supplement homeschool curriculum. We touch on all kindergarten skills throughout the year, but extra practice at home can really solidify those skills. I provide a variety of worksheets and activities to hopefully catch each learner where they need improvement.

**Scroll to the bottom to see classes that are recommended before and after this class.

In this ongoing class, students will learn kindergarten curriculum from a certified kindergarten teacher! We will begin each class by greeting each other and reviewing good learner and listener expectations.
We will spend one of the three days learning math. This will include songs, Google Slides presentations, hands-on, and written activities.
Each reading day, we will sing an ABC song to start. We will learn a new letter each day (3/week) by following the Learning Without Tears sequence and integrating it with ABC Bootcamp to learn letters and sounds. Rhyming, segmenting, and sound play will be incorporated throughout the lessons. We will finish our class by learning writing, social studies, or science, depending on the day and week.
This class will be introducing sight words using orthographic mapping and will begin to blend VC, CVC, CCVC, and other types of short vowel words. Students who stay with the class will begin to understand the closed syllables rules and some may move into decoding multisyllabic words as well as increased reading comprehension.

EACH CLASS will end with about 5 minutes of social/fun time so the students can share about their lives, toys, or activities.

💜💜I pride myself on developing good rapport with my students as well as creating a family-like culture where the students feel safe, loved, and like they have a community of friends around them.

👉🏼CLASSROOM POLICIES:
-Please try to be on time. In the case of a screen sharing class, it may be difficult to help late students if they need.
-Be sure students have on shirts and bottoms (if it is a dancing/moving class).
-I don’t always mute students, but I will if the background is too noisy. Please be sure your student knows how to unmute when it is time.

👉🏼PARENTS/CARETAKERS:
Please be sure to stay off camera as much as possible for the comfort and safety of all learners.

👉🏼SIBLINGS:
I can accommodate for siblings if the class is age appropriate by opening another slot, upon request. If the sibling is not enrolled in the class, please be sure they are not seen on camera. If more than one sibling is enrolled, they may share 1 device.

👉🏼REFUNDS:
I do not often offer refunds for missed classes (unless I miss). Outschool uploads our class video after every class and students will be able to view the class later. If you must miss an ongoing class you can choose to unenroll by Sunday morning to avoid payment, but the spot may or may not be filled when ready to re-enroll. Otherwise, you can refer to the video.

👉🏼FEEDBACK:
I am working on building a set of classes that are fun, engaging, and meaningful. Please message me with how I can make my classes better if you are willing. I ask that problems come to me first to see if I can solve them. I am a very caring and passionate teacher and I just ask for a chance to offer satisfaction.

HAVE FUN!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Tarleton State University
I have 9 years of teaching experience, 4 years of online teaching, and 3 years in kindergarten. Though I like all subjects, I have most passion for teaching reading in young learners because it is the foundation of all learning. My degree is in elementary education with ESL certification. I do not have special education certification, but depending on the need, I do use a lot of hand motions and strategies that can possibly help improve learning.
