Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 9
I am a certified teacher in various subjects and have taught these topics and standards for years. I will be aligning these lessons with state standards but making it hands-on and fun. These topics align with many things they will see on major tests or in school moving forward. These topics are also vital for your student's education. This is structured as a lecture base class with questions, discussion, videos, but a lot of content coming from me on the topic. I provide a TON of resources for you to further topics at home!

If you cannot make the scheduled sessions, there is a flexible version you can take at your own pace. Here is the link:

Please read the full description before enrolling. This will help avoid frustration!
**SUPPLIES IS LISTED AT THE END OF THE DESCRIPTION**
**This class is ongoing, so to know what week we are on or how many weeks are left, please CHECK THE SCHEDULED MEETING COUNT...THE CLOSER TO 9 MEETINGS, THE CLOSER YOU ARE TO THE START. COUNT THE MEETINGS. If you want to begin at the start, you should see 9 meetings scheduled.** The cycle will repeat content after 9 weeks.

Each week, I will teach a lesson and then provide plenty of materials for you to choose from at home, along with videos and notes from class. Every week, other than the first week, we will also be doing experiments. I will post the supplies list after the first class so you have everything for the class. All resources will be in a Google folder including a master supply list. I will provide this link after the first class as well. Nothing is needed for the first class. This class is a BLAST!

***Please note: This class is structured for grades of 5th-8th or higher. Please note, this class has a lot of information. Some weeks have more discussion, and some weeks have more instruction from me. Due to the fact many students learn differently, I use a mix of written information and videos. I also include some trivia questions in some weeks.

All work and projects are OPTIONAL. If a student is enrolled and chooses to do a project, they can show it the following week in class. If your student hops in and wants access to the previous week, I will be glad to send the link so they can have access to the work and projects.

Week 1 - Cells (Aug 2)
Week 2 - Body Systems (Muscular / Skeletal / Endocrine) (Aug 9)
Week 3 - Body Systems (Circulatory / Respiratory / Digestive) (Aug 16)
Week 4 - Body Systems (Integumentary (skin) / Nervous / Immune ) (Aug 23)
Week 5 - Organs (Brain, Heart, Kidneys) (Aug 30)
Week 6 - Organs (Liver, Pancreas, Lungs, Stomach) (Sept 6)
Week 7 - Diseases and Sickness (Sept 13)
Week 8 - Genetics (Sept. 20)

The weekly activities are as follows:

Week 1 - Create a Cell ( I will give a guide for ways to do this)
Week 2 - Muscle / Bone Activity
Week 3 - Choose a System to Build ( I will give a guide)
Week 4 - Choose a system of all we have covered, then choose a sickness that is common in that system, and do a mini-report to present (I will give a guide)
Week 5 - Create an Organ (Brain or Heart) (I will give a guide)
Week 6 - Organ Activity
Week 7 - Choose a disease or major sickness from my list and do a mini-report to present to the class in the final class.
Week 8 - Genetic Trait Activity
Week 9 - None

I will upload a guide weekly for the project for that week.

***Please note the following before you enroll:

1. This class is structured for grades of 5th-8th or higher. My goal is to have students enroll and stay in the class for the full 6 weeks. Also, please note, this class has a lot of information. Some weeks have more discussion, and some weeks have more instruction from me. Due to the fact many students learn differently, I use a mix of written information and videos. I also include some trivia questions in some weeks.

2. Please let your student know I often have a lot to cover. I will ask questions and they are welcome to comment, but please keep questions and comments directed to the topic we are covering.

3. This class fills quickly. If you have to miss class, message me instead of un-enrolling. I cannot promise your spot will be open when you come back. I offer at least one week in the entire session that you can skip class and get a refund while staying enrolled and holding your spot.

4. This class bills on Sundays. Please ensure your payment method is solid. The reason for this is because every Sunday the system will withdraw students due to processing errors. If this happens, I try and send a reminder, but often students lose spots and I cannot open more. Please ensure this does not happen if you want to keep your spot. :)

5. If you are not in actual attendance for 3 weeks in a row, the system will withdraw you.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
We do discuss endocrine and hormone system but most of this is still covered as a general topic. No specific discussion of sex science will be discussed. Student will need a general email, or you as the parent can use your email, to access the link in the google folder I will send each week. Any general email works as long as it is not linked to an organization or school. Those do not allow sharing.
Supply List
Supplies will vary. I will list the projects in the class and each week. There will be a master list, and you can use any materials for the projects we will be doing.
