Class Experience

One-time private piano lessons are offered in order for the teacher and student to meet eachother, discuss past music experience and musical goals, and ensure the teacher's teaching style is a good fit for the learner before signing up for weekly ongoing lessons. After 1 "one-time" lesson, families are encouraged to message the teacher to schedule a time for ongoing lessons.

In the One-Time Lesson, the learner can expect to:
-Get to know the teacher (and the teacher will get to know the learner!)
-Discuss any previous music experience
-Discuss music goals and interests, favourite types of music, and what the learner wishes to get out of piano lessons
-Discuss any piano books or materials the learner currently has at home
-Look inside the learner's piano books (if already acquired)
-Learn a few new musical concepts, reinforce the concepts through activites/games, and play 1-3 songs.

Books are not required to have for the "one-time" lesson, however if the learner has books at home, they are encouraged to message the teacher prior to the one-time lesson with the titles of the books, and to have them at hand for the lesson. After the "one-time" lesson, the teacher will be in contact with the parent to give a recommendation for what books to purchase if the learner wishes to continue with ongoing lessons.

Please message me to schedule a one-time lesson as I don't regularly post specific section times to the public!

Every level, from beginner to advanced is welcome! No prior musical knowledge is required.
Learning Goals
Learning goals will be specific to the student and will be discussed during the one-time lesson.

Welcome, Learners and Families!
I'm delighted to be teaching piano classes here on Outschool.

As a piano teacher, I have 10 years of experience teaching group and private piano to children of all ages and levels. I have been teaching on Outschool for 4 years, and have loved meeting such wonderful learners from around the world!
I have achieved my Level 10 Piano with the Royal Conservatory of Music, which has allowed me to study and perform pieces in all musical styles. I've completed courses in piano pedagogy (meaning: learning how to teach music), as well as Musical Harmony, Musical History, and Theory courses. My goal is to teach in a fun, encouraging, and engaging way for students to find the joys that music offers, and develop a lifelong appreciation for music. I'm excited to see your child develop creativity, confidence, and may other wonderful skills through music. I offer group and 1-on-1 classes for all ages and levels. Please don't hesitate to send me a message if there are no times posted that work for your schedule and I will do my best to find an alternative time!

Outside of teaching, I am completing my Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy. I also love to learn new pieces on the piano, and hope to learn the cello one day! I love hiking, playing soccer and badminton, and a yummy ice cream cone.

My goal is to teach in a way that sparks curiosity and creativity in students, where students leave the class feeling confident and excited to continue learning and sharing their love for music with others.

I look forward to seeing you in class!
