One on One writing lessons are 12 weeks of private writing classes which uses the IEW program. Classes are for Elementary, Jr. H. & H.S. students. This class may be a great fit for students who want to enhance their writing skills, privately. Students will learn writing skills from various Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) units. Students will read various sources. Learn how to create keyword outlines (KWO) from the sources. Write 1 - 5 paragraphs from outlines. Students will learn IEW stylistic techniques.
IEW Registered Instructor MA in Communication and Training with a concentration in Instructional Design. Former Homeschool Mom - 25 plus years teaching in the homeschool community. I have taught elementary, Jr. High, and High School students in various co-ops and in my home.
Homework Offered
Students will be required to complete unfinished class assignments for homework. Multiple stories will be read, outlined, and rewritten with stylistic techniques. The final assignment must be typed double spaced time New Roman #12 font. Amount of time spent writing and rewriting a story will depend on the student. However, I estimate 1-2 hours a week working on a story/report. Assignments are to be emailed to the teacher 2 days before class by 5pm CST. LATE ASSIGNMENTS WILL NOT BE EVALUATED. ** The student must have access to a printer in order to print out mini booklets for units 4 & 6 and various documents sent by the teacher.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Elementary and Jr. High students assignments will be randomly chosen and evaluated by the teacher. The teacher will review the compositions and supply feedback in written or verbal form. The IEW composition checklist and/or six trait assessment will be utilized to evaluate the compositions. High School students assignments will be randomly chosen and evaluated by the teacher.
