Class Experience
In this ongoing private Spanish class, students will receive personalized instruction and help that is specific to their needs. The lessons can be personalized to meet each learner's individual needs and interests. This class would be a good fit for your child if they have little to no experience in Spanish. This class will be Spanish immersion, meaning it will be mostly in Spanish, with English translation only as needed. Once you sign up please message me and let me know about your child's background in Spanish and their interests so that I may begin our learning plan! This is an example schedule that might be followed, however, class content is subject to change based on learners' level and particular language needs. Week 1: Greetings, Colors, Alphabet Week 2: Numbers, Days of the Week, Months Week 3: Weather & seasons Week 4: Shapes & Vowels Week 5: Animals & Travel Week 6: Food & Going Out Week 7: Feelings & Conversation Week 8: Body Parts & Directions After these topics are covered, new ones will be introduced! If the times listed do not fit into your schedule, please don't hesitate to reach out with preferred times and I will do my best to accommodate. I'm Lindy Avila and I have been teaching Spanish on Outschool for 3 years now and teaching online for 8 years.
A little about me:
I am passionate about helping students to gain a love of new cultures & skills through learning languages and art. I believe that learning about new languages and cultures helps us to be more empathetic, generous, and compassionate human beings.
I received my B.A. in English with a specialization in Teaching ESL from the University of Memphis. I received my TEFL certification while teaching at the University of West Bohemia in the Czech Republic. I also minored in Spanish and studied in Costa Rica. Later I lived in Bogota, Colombia for 4 years teaching Pre-k, English, and Hand Lettering. My Spanish has been heavily influenced by my time in Colombia and my family there!
I have traveled the globe and taught students from every continent! I am passionate about creating a positive learning environment, where every student feels accepted and their opinion is valued. My classroom is inclusive and engages students through curiosity and play! In each class, we have a sharing time so each student may participate as much as they are comfortable.
I believe that children are naturally curious and love to learn. Students will be encouraged to try and fail in my classes, make mistakes, and keep trying! I emphasize progress over perfection. I love to travel with my husband and daughter in my free time, practice yoga, and spend time in nature.
