Class Experience
This class is designed to provide personalized instruction for young artists of all levels. I will meet students where they're at and help them further develop their own artistic style so that they'll be excited to continue drawing even after class is over. We will discuss different art styles and influences, anatomy, posing, use of color, and ways to design unique characters. This class will be student-led, focusing on areas that the student is most interested in developing. This can range from anywhere to basic anatomy, to landscapes, to designing fantasy armor and characters for their creative projects or dnd games. Students will have an opportunity to share artwork that they have created outside of class and receive feedback on how they can grow their skillset. And more importantly: they will be encouraged and affirmed of what they're already doing right. From there, instruction and tutoring will be provided in accordance to the student's interests. Students have high control of the work flow and are encouraged to pursue what they are passionate about learning so that practicing and developing their skills seems natural and easy flow. Classes are taught by the teacher screen sharing a digital drawing software, Procreate. While classes are taught digitally, students are free to use any art supplies they prefer. Hello, my name is Rachael Allen!
Qualifications:
-15 years experience working with students ages 11-18.
-8 years of professional experience in art commission work for both personal and commercial use.
-Bachelor's Degree in Youth Ministry
I believe strongly in the importance of creative outlets. There is nothing more powerful than being able to pour out your ideas, thoughts, and emotions into a creative medium and see what happens!
As a teacher, my goal is to give each student the tools to bring their creative vision and ideas to life.
I offer classes and one-on-one tutoring that teaches basic figure drawing, digital art, as well as more advanced material such as character design. I strive to help each student find their passion and their drive for art. I love getting to know my students during the lessons and interacting with them so that I can better understand how to encourage their own personal drive.
And let's face it- growing a hobby takes practice, time, and effort. There will be times of frustration and times of excitement! My goal is to help your student to both find and hold on to their passion- it will take them through all highs and lows.
