Homework
1 hour per week. I will assign an occasional worksheet, or have the student teach you, their parent, what they learned that day. I feel that if a student can teach the concept, then they understand it.Assessment
I will be keeping in contact with you as the parent at least weekly if not more often to discuss any needs, improvements, progress, etc. Assessment happens for me when the student can adequately teach the parent the concept and also retains the information necessary to be able to move on to the next concept.Class Experience
US Grade 3 - 4
I will spend the first class reviewing what your student knows so I can meet him or her on their level of understanding. Then, we will continue reviewing math concepts until they grasp that concept and are ready to move on. I work with my student at their pace as well until they feel confident to move on. We will explain the how's, the why's, and the what's of math and include fun practice and review. We will cover things like counting by 2's, 3's, 5's, 10's, etc, addition and subtraction, place value, fact families, and work our way to multiplication and division and fractions with plenty of opportunity for me to reteach concepts and for the student to ask questions.
Learning Goals
I would like any learner to feel confident in their multiplication and division skills. Sometimes that means that we need to fill in gaps in their understanding. This is a class where students will not only learn the concepts that will help them with their understanding, but will also help them learn to be confident and comfortable in asking questions so they can always make sure that their understanding and needs are met.
Other Details
Supply List
Always send a paper and pencil. We will also be using manipulative's a lot in class because I like to include as many of the 5 senses as I can in learning. I will also keep in contact with you as the parent any time that we will need something for the next class. It will usually just include something simple like chocolate chips, cut up pieces of paper, ect. When we begin to cover fractions, we will be having a little extra fun by doing a little baking and cooking too!
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hi there fabulous parents and learners! I'm Teacher Erin and I'm really excited to start working with you and your learners.
Just a little bit about me though first!
I've been teaching for 18+ years and have been teaching online for the last 5. I REALLY love teaching math, creative writing, and drawing, though you may see me with a fun side class once in a while like baking or crafty projects.
I live in Utah with my six kids (yes, 6 kids... 4 boys and 2 girls), my husband, 2 cats, and super fun dog in whom you will probably meet once in a while in class.
My main focus in teaching is to make sure you are having fun while learning because learning is REALLY fun once we decide it can be!
I can't wait to meet you all and get started teaching you!
