Class Experience

Learning, exploring and creating a new world is what exactly this class aims to do. I will be reading a story from the famous Aesop fables and we will be working on comprehension strategies such as retelling, predicting, making inferences etc. The story will not only impart valuable life lessons in a simple and entertaining way but will also help in bringing out the hidden authors and orators in my students. We will also engage in activities such as character wheel formation which will further enhance the understanding of a character in the story and help in building interesting characters while they create their own stories.
I am dedicated to help every child discover the moment for love of reading and open a wide beautiful world to them which will help in greater understanding, self-motivation and joy. I understand the importance of getting a child get to read and that is exactly what I am here to achieve.
This class is best suited for all story lovers and someone who enjoys doing creative work.
Class 1:
We will introduce each other.
A story will be read and then we discuss the events in the story, here the child understands how a story is built as we discuss the five major elements of story writing namely setting, characters, beginning, middle and end.
A child gets to pick his/her favorite character and we work on creating the character wheel. I will be guiding them while they work around their favorite character.
Kids also get to play detectives as they hunt for words and learn new words through cross word puzzle.(A printable will be provided)
Class 2:
Based on the characters introduced in the previous session we build a new story around it. Each kid will take turn to tell their ideas and if they wish to, they can write down the story.
Kids get to color a character in the story (a printable will be provided beforehand).
We discuss various other possibilities of how the story could have progressed or ended.
We also do fun activities like maze run and shadow matching.
Learning Goals
Students will have better comprehension skill, think out the box, empathize with the characters and also get to be good story tellers over a period of time.
