Do you have what it takes to be named the "Baker of the Week"? Students will follow a recipe on their own to bake a masterpiece featuring a new recipe each week based on a theme. This class is based on the Netflix show - Nailed It.

Lesson 1
Pineapple Upside Down Cake
Ingredients: -½ cup butter melted -1 ½ cups brown sugar -24 maraschino cherries (optional) -2 - 20 ounce cans crushed pineapple -1 box of yellow cake mix -3 eggs -1 1/3 cups pineapple juice -1/3 cup vegetable oil Supplies: -Muffin pan -Cooking spray for pan -Stand mixer or hand mixer -Wax/parchment paper

Homemade Pretzels
Ingredients: -2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast 1 standard packet -1 cup warm water -1 tbsp unsalted butter melted -1 tsp sugar -1 tsp salt -3 cups all-purpose flour + up to 3/4 cup more if needed -2 cups boiling water -4 tbsp baking soda -1 tbsp coarse salt for sprinkling on top or cinnamon/sugar mixture -6 tbs salted butter, melted Supplies: -Large baking sheets -Parchment paper -Stand mixer -Medium size pot -9x9 baking dish or similar size

Fruit Salsa with Cinnamon Sugar Chips
Ingredients -15 ounce refrigerated pie crust sheets -3 tablespoons granulated sugar -2 teaspoons cinnamon -3 tablespoons unsalted butter ,melted -Strawberries, pineapple, kiwi (peeled), peaches (peeled or not)* -3 tablespoons honey or agave -1 tablespoon lime juice *Any of the fruit can be switched out for another kind of fruit. Supplies -Baking sheets -Whisk or spoon -2 small - medium mixing bowls -Small brush for butter (can use a spoon to drizzle) -Knife -Serving bowl

Watermelon Cake
Ingredients: -1 box white cake mix -1 (3 oz.) box of watermelon Jell-O powder (keep 2 tsp for frosting) -1/2 cup watermelon puree -1/2 cup water* -1/2 cup oil* -4 eggs* -1/2 cup mini any flavor chocolate chips (optional) -red food coloring *varies based on cake mix brand Cream Cheese Frosting -8 oz. cream cheese (softened) -1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened) -5 cups confectioner -2 tsp watermelon puree -2 tsp watermelon Jell-O powder -red & green food coloring Supplies: in classroom post

Firecracker Cake
Ingredients: -1 box (15.25 oz.) white cake mix -Water, vegetable oil and egg whites called for on cake mix -Red food coloring (see note) -Blue food coloring (see note) -1 container (12 oz.) white frosting -Red, white and blue sprinkles, optional Supplies: -Pick one: Bundt pan, round cake pan OR cupcake tin -Mixing bowl -2 small bowls -Spoon or spatula -3 microwavable bowls (can use the bowls listed above just wash them first) -Fork or spoon

Ingredients: -4 cup crushed Graham Crackers -1/2 cup melted Butter -1 cup Sugar 1/2 + 1/2 -16 oz softened Cream Cheese -8 oz thawed Whipped Topping Cool Whip -2 tsp Vanilla -42 0z Strawberry Pie Filling (2 21 oz can) or other fruit flavor Supplies: -13x9 baking dish or similar size -mixing bowl -electric mixer/stand mixer (can use a whisk or spatula but electric mixer will make it easier) -spatula -spoon

Banana Pudding Dream Bars
Ingredients -28 Golden Oreos (or similar) with filling, divided -4 tbsp unsalted butter -3 bananas, divided -4 oz cream cheese room temperature -½ cup powdered sugar -1 tsp pure vanilla extract -8 oz Cool Whip, divided -3.9 oz package instant banana pudding -1 ½ cups milk (Pudding calls for 2 cups but only use 1 ½ cups to create a thicker pudding for slicing) Supplies -Blender/food processor (can crush by hand) -Microwavable bowl -8x8 inch baking dish or similar -2 mixing bowls -Knife -Spoon

Southern Peach Cobbler
Ingredients: 2 bags Frozen peaches, 20oz each (sub 8 fresh peaches) 1 cup Granulated sugar 1 cup Brown sugar 1 tsp Vanilla extract ½ tsp Almond extract, (optional but recommended) ½ tbsp Cinnamon ½ tsp Nutmeg 2 tsp Corn starch 1 tsp Cream of tartar 4 tbsp Butter, unsalted room temp 2 tbsp Water 1 tsp fresh lemon juice Topping 2 cups Flour ½ cup Granulated sugar ½ cup Brown sugar 2 tbsp Baking powder 1 tbsp Cinnamon, reserve ½ for top 8tbsp Butter, unsalted cold ¼ cup Boiling water ½ tsp salt
  • Learn the art of baking by creating delicious desserts Practice following a recipe by mixing ingredients. This will show them specific math and science skills. Gain safety tips in the kitchen Creativity!
I love cooking and baking! I have been doing both for over 15 years. I started out helping my mom and dad make meals. My sister and I used to have cooking shows and pretended to have our own restaurant. Currently, I am a mom of 2 boys and am always making something in the kitchen. Like all kids, they go through picky stages and I have to get creative. I love experimenting with new recipes and baked goods. I have a lifestyle blog where I occasionally release recipes, as well.

Grades Offered
Grades are completely optional. Once each recipe is made, the student can post a picture with a description of the taste and I can grade them 1-5. I will rate it 1-5. 1 being needs work (Faker) and 5 being amazing (Baker). If they do not wish for a rating, please let me know :) Another option - at the end of baking all the recipes, the learner can receive a certificate of completion. If you would like either of those, please send me a message once you have signed up.

Measuring cups/spoons
Mixing bowls
Baking sheet/pan (varies based on recipes)
Stand mixer/hand mixer (Not required but recommended)
This is a hands on baking class so your child will be using the oven and other kitchen utensils. Please make sure your student is aware of how to use an oven and kitchen utensils such as measuring spoons, cups, mixer, and potentially a microwave. 

As for any allergens, let me know ahead of time and we can swap out ingredients to fit your child’s needs.
