Class Experience

This class is designed for students who welcome the challenge of word problems, or for those who would like practice with word-problem comprehension. We will briefly review problem-solving tips at the start of class before we begin solving word problems! I will present the student with simpler word problems first and try more difficult ones based on how much assistance they need. The focus of this class is to help the student feel more confident when faced with word problems. You are more than welcome to reach out to me with any information that might help me achieve this.

This ongoing course is a "subscription" for parents who would like to "pre-schedule" a weekly session of this class (without having to keep scheduling them each week). Payment is charged each Sunday before class meets. If you decide to cancel the subscription, you may cancel prior to the weekend to avoid being charged for the upcoming session.

Prerequisites:
These word problems begin at grade 3 level and advance up to grade 5 level. In order for the student to have the opportunity to solve varying types of problems, they should be fluent with multiplication/division tables 1-12, as well as calculations with single, double and triple digit numbers. Most or all triple digit numbers will be multiples of 10.

Learning Goals

This class will allow students to practice various word problems including all four mathematical operations
