1-2 hours per week. This is a half hour practice session that happens 5 days per week. Weekend practice is also recommended.Class Experience
In twenty-three years of teaching, I have found the biggest hurdle that students face is "finding time" to practice their instrument. In my daily practice sessions, I will help students with the pieces of music the students have been assigned from their own private music teacher, their band teacher or orchestra instructor. In each class I will help students to develop good habits. This habits in practice include but are not limited to: -playing a familiar song or scale in the beginning to warm up -breaking difficult music into smaller, less overwhelming sections of music in order to master the song -how to fix a measure where they always get stuck -music theory for the student's specific instrument -slow practice using a metronome -fixing bad habits This class can benefit students learning to play: -the harp -piano -violin -cello -guitar Sometimes students just need to meet with an instructor or tutor for a little while until they get used to practicing each day and then they can go forward on their own. This class is NOT a music lesson. Students bring whatever they've been assigned by their teacher and I will help them practice and work toward mastering that music assignment. Sometimes, it's hard for students to practice on their own but they will attend a practice session. This daily meeting is a positive place to work on their music.
