Class Experience

Calling all Paw Patrol fans! We all love how Ryder and the pups always save the day! This small group class is a fun combination of storytelling, story writing, and social time. Your child will be introduced to basic story structure (problem and solution and sequencing). I will share a teacher-created Paw Patrol story on the screen so it’s easy to see and read along. We will identify and discuss the problem and solution in the story. Then, I will guide the learners to work collaboratively to create their own creative Paw Patrol story with a problem and solution using characters like Chase, Zuma, Marshall, Mayor Humdinger, and all the pups. We will read our new story together, and I will share it after class so you can print it to read together at home! This class is designed to be very small so that your child can participate easily and practice politely taking turns. Each student-created story is unique so this class can be taken multiple times since each story will be different! My hope is that the stories we create spark creativity in the children as they enjoy their own playtime at home. The students are welcome to bring their favorite toy pup to class. Students will need their imaginations but do not need to know to how to read or write for this class!

This is a small group class so that all students can participate in creating the story. I will remind the students about taking turns and using good manners. If needed, we will take turns by using mute/unmute.
Learning Goals
Students will interact together while listening to a teacher-created Paw Patrol story and learn basic story structure elements. They will also create their own story with a problem and solution.

Hello! I'm Amy Tucker, owner of the Montessori Hands On Minds On Math org. We are all about teaching high-quality, Montessori math lessons to help our students develop a strong foundation in number sense, numerical fluency, and problem solving. We also have a lot of fun doing it! Our experienced teachers want your child to grow and gain confidence every single day in class through meaningful, fun activities and enthusiastic teaching. We think learning should be based on real-world interests and experiences that are engaging and challenging. We love teaching math and want your child to love learning math!

Our org has highly qualified teachers who love working with young children. We are passionate about math and want your children to develop a deep understanding and love for it too! We have taught students from preschool-age through high school in a variety of settings. We are experienced teachers with masters degrees who have taught in public schools, homeschool hybrid and private schools, and online with Outschool.

Amy Tucker has a bachelors degree in Elementary Education and a masters degree in Library Media Science, both from Western Kentucky University. In 2007, she became a National Board Certified Teacher as an Early Childhood Generalist. Amy has taught with Outschool for over 4 years.

We believe in excellence as teachers and for our learners. We work hard to do our best and learn new things everyday. We are big believers in teaching children how to learn, rather than just memorize, so they can learn how to find answers to their own questions. Amy was a reluctant learner as a young child, especially with math, because she didn't understand WHY she was learning. We always want our students to understand the reason WHY we learn new things so they can master the content and know how to apply it. We learn together! We look forward to meeting your child in our Outschool classrooms!
