Class experience
This is a fun, one-time class for learners to practice blending oil pastels and create a beautiful piece of artwork! We will first take a quick look at some famous flower paintings, especially Georgia O'Keeffe's famous Red Poppies and Light Irises....and then we will draw and color our own! The main focus of this class is to learn an easy oil pastel blending technique that produces really impressive, bold, saturated color, every time. Learners will leave class with one-of-a-kind flower art...
Students will get to know some famous Georgia O'Keeffe flower paintings, practice drawing a close-up flower, and learn to blend oil pastels in a fun and easy way that produces great results.
Mixed media or art paper (even copy paper will work!) Oil pastels, including a shade of yellow, a shade of brown, and colors of your learner's choosing for the petals. The blending technique works best with various shades of the same color, for example, a light pink, a medium pink, and a darker pink or red...but I'm always happy to work with whatever supplies learners bring to class.
