Are you ready for an adventure in Oz? Come with me! In this class, I will be leading learners through a game of Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) that is inspired by The Wizard of Oz. Each student will make their own character to play in our adventure during our Session 0, which will be out first class, and then play that character for the following three weeks as they overcome challenges and navigate obstacles on their quest to make it to The Wizard to ask for what they need. I have been playing tabletop games for three years now and gamemastering for two. I slowly got to know others and am now a professional GM for hire. I am also an actual play performer and game designer.
Students will be given a character sheet in our session zero.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
In our Session 0 when we make our characters, we will also discuss anything the learners wouldn't want to see in our game. I will be running a map so the students can visualize what the environment they are in looks like, but it will only be on my screen, so students do not need to access anything. The same goes for any of the D&D books we may need information from at any point.
I will be showing examples or information from certain Dungeons & Dragons books. All of this will remain on my screen so students will not need to own the materials.
