October STEM Challenge: Candy Tower
In this STEM challenge, students will learn the basics of 3 dimensional shapes and structures while planning, building and testing their own candy towers.

In this October themed STEM challenge, students will plan, build and test their own 3-D structures in order to build the tallest tower. Prior to building their structure, students will learn the basics of 3-D shapes such as pyramids, cubes and prisms. Using this knowledge, students will and build their towers with toothpicks and candy corn pumpkins. A ruler or measuring tape will be used to measure the height of the structure. After each test build, students will reflect on their design and decide if modifications need to be made to their structure. Learners will reflect on their designs and discuss what worked or didn't work with their classmates at the end of the class. Who can build the tallest tower? Who's tower was the most stable? Challenge ON!!
Learning Goals
Students will learn the basics of 3 dimensional shapes such as pyramids, cubes and prisms in order to design and build their own structure from candy pumpkins and toothpicks.

- bag of mini marshmallows - Bag of candy gummies (Shape doesn’t matter) - 1 bag of candy corn pumpkins -1 box of toothpicks -1 ruler or measuring tape - pencil and printouts attached
