US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
In this one-time class, learners will travel with Lucas and Riley around the world to discover over thirty different plant and animal species. First, we travel to the West Coast of America, off the shore of California. We will meet whales, dolphins, sea lions and many more. During this time in California, students will have a printout of a mask and snorkel that they can color before class so we can dive into the water. With brightly colored and fun slides students will be introduced to large and small animals and given some facts about them. We then follow Riley and Lucas North to the shores of Oregon where they will see an orca and play with sea otters and discover what a sand dollar is. After the shores of Oregon, we travel the Great Barrier Reef and meet Phoebe, a local Australian who helps Riley and Lucas get out of some trouble in the water! They will meet a huge whale shark and even see an endangered dugong! They will see and learn about an octopus and what happens when it gets frightened, and even meet the fish that inspired a certain Disney movie! We will then leave the Great Barrier Reef and travel to the Atlantic Ocean! Here we will meet a great white shark off the coast of South Africa and see manta rays migrate! We will move on to the middle of the Atlantic and see a school of tuna and a little deeper down we will meet a pufferfish and a few other small creatures of the sea. Finally, we will make our way to where we will see a moray eel and a blue crab along with a beautiful lionfish! I hope to see your learner in my classroom soon! I'm excited to meet them and show them how amazing the ocean and its creatures are!
Learning Goals
Learners will learn facts about animals and plants from certain oceans and bodies of water. They will meet the large and small, the famous and forgotten. They will know how long a sea lion can hold its breath underwater and how many teeth a shark has! They will hopefully leave my class with a sense of awe and wonder!
