What's included
16 live meetings
10 hrs 40 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Each day we will meet to socialize, exercise our minds and bodies, craft and learn about the ocean, fish, mollusks and animals that live near or in the sea! We will engage in a craft, science based activity or fine art activity each day with friends from all over the world. Our daily rhythm will begin with a song. Next we will move our bodies while we enjoy gross motor activities together followed by an imaginary adventure leading to our daily craft and activity for the day. During our imaginary play children will have an opportunity to enjoy imaginary adventures. We may pretend to go deep sea fishing and catch an octopus or sea monster. Perhaps we will swim with mermaids and find buried treasure on a hidden island? We may even steer a pirate ship sprinkled with pixie dust and sail off into the sunset! The possibilities are limited only to our imaginations! Week 1 Theme: Starfish Week 2 Theme: Sea Shells Week 3 Theme: Fish and Whales Week 4 Theme: Sharks and Dolphins Parents will receive a handout with our song, projects and activities listed for the month on the first day of class so that you will be able to plan out and follow with your child's rhythm for the month. Hi. My name is Heather. The best students ask lots of questions and explore their ideas openly. My job is to inspire the questions and give students the tools they need to find their own answers. I earned my BFA from Madonna University in Michigan and my MEd. from Antioch New England in New Hampshire. I am a Nature Based Educator and Art Education Consultant with 25 years of experience working with children. Whether leading a hiking group, sketching, searching for mermaid tears, or giving a demonstration at Strawbery Banke Museum I infuse my days with imagination and curiosity. I am also the Head Youth Librarian at the Newmarket Public Library in New Hampshire!
My heart is in everything I do. Creativity is at the core of all of the classes I teach. Nature Journaling, Gardening, Nature Architects, Myth, Magic and Folklore, The Art of Letter Writing (via Owl post of course!), Morning Circle for Littles, Fine Art classes focusing on famous and not so famous artists, Forest Fairy Club, Wizard's Potions and Magic Wands, and Spelling Bees are just a few of the classes I offer. Ages range from 3 to 18.
